WHY LEAVE
Why people leave Bubble.
And when it's time.
Bubble is good for the first version of a product. As the product grows, it starts holding back the site, performance and day-to-day running.
You can't take the code with you
Bubble can't export your app as code. The logic and workflows stay in Bubble and have to be rebuilt elsewhere.
The site lives inside the app
Your homepage, blog and guides run in the same editor as the app. Every text edit needs someone who knows Bubble.
Weak SEO
Page content is assembled in the browser with JavaScript. Google indexes it more slowly and with more room for errors than plain HTML.
Slow loading
Pages load the Bubble runtime and data from the database. Every extra query makes them slower.
Usage-based costs
Bubble bills by workload units. As traffic grows, so do the bills, and they're hard to predict.
Users locked in Bubble
User passwords can't be exported. Moving accounts has to be planned so nobody gets lost.
MIGRATION TARGET
WHAT CARRIES OVER
What carries over.
And what replaces the plugins.
I export the data from Bubble to CSV or JSON, pull the public pages from the published site and move everything into the new structure. Here's where everything goes.
| BUBBLE | WEBFLOW | SANITY CMS |
|---|---|---|
| Public pages | Pages and templates | Pages built from blocks |
| Blog and content data types | CMS collections | Documents in Sanity |
| Relations between data types | Reference fields in the CMS | References between documents |
| Files and images | Assets, compressed | Sanity media library |
| Page SEO settings | Title, description, OG, canonical URL | The same fields on every document |
| Forms and workflows | Webflow forms with integrations | Forms and logic in code |
| App data (records, orders) | Stays in the app | Custom app database |
| Users and passwords | Not migrated, handled separately | Accounts yes, users set new passwords |
What replaces the add-ons
| PLUGIN | WEBFLOW | SANITY CMS |
|---|---|---|
| SEO and meta plugins | SEO settings and fields in Webflow CMS | SEO fields in Sanity, metadata in Astro |
| API Connector | API integrations or an automation service | A custom backend and direct API integrations |
| Stripe plugin | A Stripe payment page through an external integration | Stripe Checkout through a custom backend |
| Rich text editor (BBCode) | Rich text in Webflow CMS | Portable Text in Sanity |
| Login and privacy rules | A members area through an external service | Authentication and permissions in a custom app |
| Backend and scheduled workflows | An automation service or an external backend | Server-side jobs and scheduling |
PROCESS
How a Bubble migration works.
From export to rank monitoring.
Bubble audit
I go through the app and the site, export the data and list the pages, data types, workflows, plugins and URLs. I separate what's site and what's app.
URL map and redirects
Page and record URLs with Bubble's long IDs become clean new URLs, each with a 301 redirect.
Content conversion and cleanup
I move text from the database and the public pages into a clean structure. I download the files from Bubble's storage.
Your content review
You go through the site in a dedicated feedback tool. You leave comments right on the page, and I fix them.
Launch
I switch the domain, check redirects, forms and analytics, and submit the new sitemap. The Bubble app keeps running until it's replaced.
Post-launch monitoring
I watch Search Console and traffic. Whatever shows up after launch, I fix.
Send me your site's URL. I'll tell you what it takes.
I'll go through your site, app and data and suggest whether to move just the site or everything. No commitment, no sales pitch.

FAQ
What people ask
about leaving Bubble.
Can I export my app from Bubble?
Not as code. Bubble doesn't offer a code export. I export the data to CSV or JSON, write down the logic and workflows, and rebuild them.
Can I move just the site and keep the app in Bubble?
Yes, and it often makes sense. I move the marketing site to Webflow or custom development, and the app keeps running on its own subdomain, such as app.yourdomain.com.
What about users and their passwords?
I move the user accounts and their data. Passwords can't be exported from Bubble, so users either set new ones or we migrate them gradually the next time each user logs in.
Does the database data carry over?
Yes. I export the data types to CSV or JSON, or through the Data API, and move them into a new database or into Sanity. Relations between types are kept.
Will my SEO improve after the migration?
Usually, yes. The new site sends search engines finished HTML, not a page assembled in the browser. I redirect old URLs with a 301 and keep an eye on indexing.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes. In Webflow you edit pages visually, in Sanity you edit content in an editor with a preview. You don't touch the app while doing it.
Does Bubble have to go offline during the migration?
No. Bubble keeps running until you approve the new site. I export the data again before launch so nothing is missing.
