WHY LEAVE
Why people leave WordPress.
And when it's time.
WordPress works well as long as someone keeps it maintained. When nobody does, it starts costing more work than it gives back.
A plugin for everything
Forms, SEO, caching, translations, a page builder. Every plugin is one more dependency and one more update.
Security
WordPress is the most widely used CMS, which makes it a common target. The holes are mostly in outdated plugins and themes.
Updates that break things
A new core or plugin version, and suddenly a form stops working or a page layout falls apart.
Slow loading
Page builders and piles of scripts slow the site down. Weak Core Web Vitals then drag your SEO down too.
Content locked in a page builder
Elementor or Divi shortcodes are hard to edit and hard to move. Without the builder, the content falls apart.
Nothing moves without a developer
Every bigger change waits for someone who understands WordPress and your plugins.
MIGRATION TARGET
WHAT CARRIES OVER
What carries over.
And what replaces the plugins.
I export all the content from WordPress and move it into the new structure. Here's where everything goes.
| WORDPRESS | WEBFLOW | SANITY CMS |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | Blog CMS collection | Documents in Sanity |
| Pages | Pages and templates | Pages built from blocks |
| Categories and tags | Reference fields in the CMS | References between documents |
| Media | Assets, compressed | Sanity media library |
| SEO (Yoast, Rank Math) | Title, description, OG, canonical URL | The same fields on every document |
| Forms | Webflow forms | Forms connected to your system |
| ACF custom types and fields | CMS collections with custom fields | Content schema in Sanity |
| Users and comments | Not migrated, handled separately | Not migrated, handled separately |
What replaces the add-ons
| PLUGIN | WEBFLOW | SANITY CMS |
|---|---|---|
| Yoast SEO, Rank Math | SEO settings and fields in Webflow CMS | SEO fields in Sanity, metadata in Astro |
| WPML, Polylang | Webflow Localization | Language versions in Sanity and Astro |
| WP Rocket and caching plugins | Webflow hosting with a CDN | Static pages in Astro and a CDN |
| Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms | Webflow forms with integrations | Custom forms with storage and integrations |
| Elementor, Divi | Components and the Webflow visual editor | Pages assembled from prepared blocks in Sanity |
| Wordfence and security plugins | Managed Webflow hosting | Separate Sanity CMS and managed website hosting |
PROCESS
How a WordPress migration works.
From export to rank monitoring.
WordPress audit
I crawl the whole site, export the content from WordPress and list the pages, post types, plugins and URLs.
URL map and redirects
URLs with dates, /category/ or ?p= become clean new URLs, each with a 301 redirect.
Content conversion and cleanup
I move posts and pages out of the page builder into a clean structure, with no shortcodes or plugin leftovers.
Your content review
You go through the site in a dedicated feedback tool. You leave comments right on the page, and I fix them.
Launch
I switch the domain, check redirects, forms and analytics, and submit the new sitemap. You keep a backup of your WordPress.
Post-launch monitoring
I watch Search Console and traffic. Whatever shows up after launch, I fix.
Send me your site's URL. I'll tell you what it takes.
I'll go through your site, plugins and content types and suggest whether to move to Webflow or go custom. No commitment, no sales pitch.

FAQ
What people ask
about leaving WordPress.
Will my old posts and their URLs carry over?
Yes. I export every post, page and media file, move them into the new structure and redirect each old URL to its new one with a 301. URLs with dates or /category/ get simplified along the way.
What happens to the plugins I use now?
I go through every one. Most get replaced by what Webflow or Sanity does natively, some get connected to an external service, and some you won't need at all.
My site is built in Elementor or Divi. Can it be migrated?
Yes. I move the content out of the page builder into a clean structure, with no shortcodes. The page layouts get rebuilt from components.
Will I lose my Yoast or Rank Math settings?
No. Titles, descriptions, social images and canonical URLs carry over to every page and post.
What about my WooCommerce store?
It depends on how many products you have and how you handle payments and shipping. A smaller catalog can move to Webflow; a larger store is better kept on a dedicated platform and connected to the site. I'll recommend one after the audit.
Can I still write posts myself, like in WordPress?
Yes. In Webflow you write right on the page, in Sanity in a clean editor with a live preview. No plugins, no updates.
Does WordPress have to go offline during the migration?
No. WordPress keeps running until you approve the new site. Anything published in the meantime gets synced before launch.
